2013 Tour de France Stage 12 Results & Recap
Stage 12 of the 2013 Tour de France is in the books. The final results and standings are below, followed by our recap of how the race unfolded.

Marcel Kittel (Argos-Shimano) won his third stage at the 2013 Tour de France with a sprint victory today in Tours. Mark Cavendish (Omega Pharma-QuickStep) had a perfect lead-out from teammate Gert Steegmans, but the Manx Missile had to settle for second as Kittel came around him in the closing meters. Points classification leader Peter Sagan (Cannondale) rounded out the top three in stage 12.
Chris Froome (Sky) remains in the yellow jersey and the Briton rode attentively in the frenetic finale to avoid a crash with 2.5km to go. The big pile-up happened near the head of the race and disrupted the field sprint finish.
Five riders attacked in the opening kilometres of the 218km stage and built up a maximum lead of nine minutes. While Romain Sicard (Euskaltel-Euskadi) dropped off with about 50km to go, his four companions Juan Antonio Flecha (Vacansoleil-DCM), Francesco Gavazzi (Astana), Anthony Delaplace (Sojasun) and Manuele Mori (Lampre-Merida) pressed onwards into the stage finale. Flecha dispatched of Gavazzi, Delaplace and Mori with 14km to go, but his solo effort was neutralised at 6km to the finish in Tours.
