Course Preview
The second consecutive hilly stage travels from Montbrison into the Ardèche, with six categorized climbs spread across 153.4 kilometers. Several shorter ascents will wear down the peloton during the opening half, but the major difficulty is the second-category Col de Lalouvesc, an 8.6-kilometer climb averaging 5%. Its summit comes with nearly 48 kilometers remaining and could provide the launching point for a strong breakaway or long-range attack. The narrow roads toward Saint-Félicien lead to the Côte de Boucieu-le-Roi, a 3.8-kilometer climb at 5.7% that tops out 15.9 kilometers from the finish. From there, the riders descend toward a flat finish on Quai Farconnet in Tournon-sur-Rhône.
