Le Court secures a brutal stage 6 win
Kim Le Court-Pienaar (AG Insurance-Soudal) saved her best effort for last, winning Stage 6 of the 2026 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift from a select group following a fast and tactical descent into Tournon-sur-RhĂ´ne. CĂ©drine Kerbaol (EF Education-Oatly) finished second, with Puck Pieterse (Fenix-Premier Tech) third, Sarah Van Dam (Visma-Lease a Bike) fourth and CĂ©lia Gery (FDJ United-Suez) fifth.
The riders faced 153.4 kilometers and more than 2,500 meters of elevation gain on a relentless route through the Ardèche, with 40 of the final 50 kilometers downhill. Loes Adegeest (Lidl-Trek), Nikola Nosková (Cofidis) and Katrine Aalerud (Uno-X Mobility) formed the day’s main breakaway during the opening kilometers, eventually building an advantage of 2 minutes, 20 seconds.
The early escape began to unravel as Fenix-Premier Tech and EF Education-Oatly increased the pressure in the peloton. Nosková was the first of the three to lose contact, while Adegeest and Aalerud continued ahead before the race came back together on the Col de Lalouvesc. Pieterse led the field over the Category 2 summit, adding five points to her polka-dot jersey campaign as a group of roughly 32 riders emerged at the front.
Gery was one of the most aggressive riders of the day, attacking on the climbs and again during the long descent into the valley. She was joined at the front by Van Dam, Elisa Longo Borghini (UAE Team ADQ), Liane Lippert (Movistar), Kerbaol and Pieterse, and the six riders carried a 20-second advantage into the final 22 kilometers.
Pieterse collected another three mountain points atop the Category 3 Côte de Boucieu-le-Roi, followed by Longo Borghini and Gery. Kerbaol tried to slip away over the summit, but the headwind quickly ended her move. Gery’s repeated attacks throughout the stage earned the French champion the Combativity prize.
Le Court-Pienaar and Riejanne Markus (Lidl-Trek) bridged to the leaders before the bonus point at Saint-Barthélemy-le-Plain, where Le Court-Pienaar grabbed six bonus seconds ahead of Longo Borghini and Pieterse. Le Court-Pienaar attacked again inside the final five kilometers but was brought back, while Markus tried her luck with 2 kilometers remaining. Longo Borghini shut down the late moves as the yellow-jersey group chased from behind.
The leaders still held 15 seconds under the flamme rouge, setting up a reduced sprint for the victory. Le Court-Pienaar opened first and had enough left to hold her rivals at bay, capping an aggressive finale with the Stage 6 win.
