Tadej Pogačar (UAD) tied the all-time record for stage wins at the Tour de Romandie, when he took his fourth stage victory on the final day at the summit finish in Leysin. Pushed all of the way on the closing ramps by Florian Lipowitz (RBH), Pogačar unleashed his winning kick 500m from the line, which he crossed 3 seconds ahead of the German to equal the victory mark set by Swiss racing legend Ferdi Kübler in 1951.

Once again, Lipowitz and his Red Bull teammates tried all they could to knock the world champion off his perch. When an 8-rider breakaway group formed after a frantic opening half-hour, they had two riders in it – Finn Fisher-Black and Jan Tratnik. This group pushed their lead out quickly to 3'20", but reached the 14km climb to Leysin with just 50 seconds on the bunch. Fisher-Black made a brave solo effort but was caught with 6km remaining.

Bahrain Victorious then kept the pace high for their leader Lenny Martinez until Lipowitz made his first attack with 4km left. Pogačar was quick to respond, as did the other GC contenders. Jørgen Nordhagen (TVL) was the next to accelerate, with Martinez equally quick to track his closest rival for 3rd place on GC.

As the young Norwegian was caught, Lipowitz made his second attack, Pogačar the only rider able to follow this time. The German made a third acceleration but still couldn't shake the race leader, the pair then settling into a spell of collaboration that lasted into the final kilometer.

Primož Roglič (RBH) had just about bridged up to the pair with 800m left, when Lipowitz attacked again. This time Pogačar countered with an acceleration of his own, and his burst of speed rapidly gave him a winning margin, with Lipowitz second and Roglič third.

Martinez did enough to secure third place on the podium behind Pogačar and Lipowitz, with Nordhagen fourth and just 17 seconds separating Luke Plapp (JAY) in fifth from Junior Lecerf (SOQ) in 10th.
