Koch Wins Paris-Roubaix Femmes After Late Move Denies Vos in Velodrome Sprint

Franziska Koch (FDJ United–SUEZ) powered to victory at Paris-Roubaix Femmes, outsprinting Marianne Vos (Visma–Lease a Bike) in the Roubaix velodrome to claim a hard-fought win after a brutal day on the cobbles.

Vos finished second, just inches short of victory, while Pauline Ferrand-Prévot (Visma–Lease a Bike) completed the podium six seconds back after a gritty but ultimately unsuccessful defense of her 2025 title.

The race, covering 143.1 kilometers and 33.7 kilometers of cobbled sectors, steadily wore down the field from the moment the riders hit the pavé, with crashes, punctures and mechanicals shaping the outcome long before the final kilometers.

Early aggression came from Rosa Maria Klöser (CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto), who launched the first major move of the day and built a gap of nearly a minute before being reeled back in as the peloton accelerated into a decisive sequence of sectors.

Trouble struck repeatedly behind, with Elisa Balsamo and Alison Jackson both suffering early punctures, while a crash at the end of Sector 13 split the field and reduced the peloton to around 50 riders with more than 50 kilometers still to race.

As the race entered the critical midsection, SD Worx–Protime and Visma–Lease a Bike took control on the front, driving a relentless pace across sectors like Mons-en-Pévèle, where the peloton hit the cobbles at near sprint speed.

The decisive move formed inside the final 45 kilometers, when Ferrand-Prévot, Vos, Kata Blanka Vas (SD Worx–Protime) and Koch broke clear, quickly opening a gap of over a minute on the fragmented chasers.

From there, the race became a test of survival and tactics. Ferrand-Prévot did much of the work at the front, at times appearing on the limit but repeatedly clawing her way back after the cobbled sectors.

With just over 20 kilometers to go, Koch made her move, attacking hard and drawing Vos clear, while Ferrand-Prévot was briefly distanced before fighting back once again.

The trio regrouped in the closing kilometers, setting up a tense finale as they approached Roubaix.

Inside the velodrome, it came down to timing.

Koch struck first, launching her sprint from the front as Vos tried to come around in the final meters. The Dutch veteran surged late but ran out of road, crossing the line just behind the German champion.

Behind them, Ferrand-Prévot rolled in six seconds later, her attempt to deliver a victory for Vos — a plan the pair had discussed before the race — falling just short.

Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx–Protime) finished fourth at 1:30, while Megan Jastrab (UAE Team ADQ) rounded out the top five
