Course Preview

The Women’s Flèche Wallonne serves up eight climbs over a 140.7-kilometre route. The steep Mur de Huy features twice – as always, the second time as the finish.

The Women’s Flèche Wallonne both starts and finishes in Huy. The race opens with a loop featuring the Côte de Bohissau and Côte de Petite Somme before the riders hit the finishing circuit after 76.3 kilometres. They’ll tackle the lap one and a half times.

The local circuit is 37.2 kilometres long and packs in three climbs: the Côte d’Ereffe, the Côte de Cherave, and the iconic Mur de Huy. All three come in the second half of the loop, so the riders face each of them twice.

The Côte d’Ereffe climbs for 2.1 kilometres at an average of 5%, with a steep start before easing off. A rolling descent then leads to the foot of the Cherave, which also kicks off sharply before climbing irregularly to a more gentle second part. In total, the Cherave averages 6.5% over 1.8 kilometres.

A 2-kilometre descent followed by 2 kilometres on the flat takes the riders to the base of the Mur de Huy. This wall is 1.3 kilometres long and averaging 9.6%. The first 400 metres and final 100 are relatively easy, but in between, the gradient never drops below 10%.

Anna van der Breggen was the undisputed queen of the Mur de Huy in the period 2015-2021. Interestingly, the last rider to win La Flèche Wallonne before Van der Breggen’s reign – Pauline Ferrand-Prévot – is back in the peloton this year, although she is not riding La Flèche Wallonne. Other former winners include Marianne Vos (2007–2009, 2011, 2013), Marta Cavalli (2022), Demi Vollering (2023), and Kasia Niewiadoma (2024).
