2026 Giro d'Italia Stage 15 Results & Recap
Stage 15 of the 2026 Giro d'Italia is in the books. The final results and standings are below, followed by our recap of how the race unfolded.
Race Recap
Uno-X Mobility have been one of the most aggressive teams throughout this race and they finally got the reward their efforts deserved when Fredrik Dversnes (UXM) proved quickest of a four-rider breakaway group at the finish in central Milan, outsprinting Mirco Maestri (PTV) by a bike length, with Martin Marcellusi (BCS) a similar distance back in third and Mattia Bais (PTV) fourth.
The bunch was led in five seconds after Dversnes had clinched victory by Paul Magnier following a frantic chase on the fourth and final 16km lap in Milan during which the sprinters' teams threw everything they had into the chase but still came up short.
The break formed very soon after the start. Bardiani and Polti Visit Malta had already led a vain attempt to load one escape group with riders, before Bais and Maestri jumped clear. Marcellusi was quick to respond, while Dversnes had to chase a little longer to make the junction with them.
Their lead went out to almost 3 minutes before the peloton began what seemed likely to be the inevitable chase and capture.
The gap had been reduced to 2 minutes when the riders crossed the finish line in Milan to start the first of four laps on the finishing circuit, where huge crowds had gathered in the Sunday heat.
The peloton soon began to realize, though, that the break wouldn't yield without a big fight. With 30km left, its advantage was still 1'30". Another 13km had been covered before the peloton has reduced its deficit to below a minute.
By that point, the sprint teams were already committing lead-out riders and even their GC contenders to the chase, Derek Gee-West (LTK) among them.
Going into the final lap, the gap was 57 seconds. With 9km left, it was still 40". Then, as the peloton started to run out of committed workers, it rose to 48. The bunch did manage to half that deficity with 3km left, but the sprint teams only had their final lead-out man in reserve to work.
The break went into the final kilometer 20" clear. Bais kept the pace high approaching the line, assuring the quartet would stay clear. With 150m remaining, Dversnes came off his wheel, his speed too much for his two rivals.
