2026 Giro d'Italia Stage 10 Results & Recap
Stage 10 of the 2026 Giro d'Italia is in the books. The final results and standings are below, followed by our recap of how the race unfolded.
Race Recap
Filippo Ganna (IGD) rode the fastest 40km-plus time trial in Grand Tour history to claim his eighth stage victory at the Giro and give Netcompany INEOS their first success of this race. The British team's delight was further heightened by Thymen Arensman, who finished second on the day behind Ganna, gaining on all of his GC rivals, including Jonas Vingegaard (TVL).
The overall standings changed significantly, although Afonso Eulálio (TBV) managed to hold off Vingegaard's push for the leader's jersey. Despite the Dane gaining almost two minutes on the young Portuguese, Eulálio still hase 27 seconds in hand as the race reaches its halfway point.
Arensman has moved into third place, 1'57" behind Eulálio, with Felix Gall (DCT) dropping to fourth place at 2'24", ahead of Ben O'Connor (JAY) at 2'48" in fifth.
The first rider to finish the TT, Max Walscheid set what proved to a very good target for those who followed, recording a time of 48'10" for the 42km course. His mark was soon improved by Sjoerd Bax (PQT), who was 13" quicker. Both of these riders would eventually finish in the top 6 on the day.
Bax didn't get to spend long in the hot seat as the fastest man before Ganna completed the course at a phenomenal average of 54.921km/h and more than 2 minutes quicker than the Dutchman. Ganna then spent the rest of time trial watching rider after rider finish minutes behind his mark.
Rémi Cavagna (GFC) was the first rider to get within 2 minutes of the Italian, Arensman later bettering the Frenchman's mark by five seconds as the focus switched to the GC battle.
On this front, Eulálio, Vingegaard and Arensman were the big winners. The Portuguese stayed in pink for at least another day. Vingegaard seemed below his best but still extended his lead on his most obvious GC rivals to 90 seconds. Arensman, meanwhile, jumped to third and should now have his whole team behind him including 2021 champion Egan Bernal.
