Asgreen Wins Stage 14

A crash occurring 22 kilometers from the finish marked the end of stage 14. This incident favored the attackers, allowing Kasper Asgreen to break away in the final 6 kilometers and race to victory. Meanwhile, Isaac Del Toro increased his lead in the overall classification.

The breakaway included Wout van Aert, Taco van der Hoorn, Kasper Asgreen, Fabio Van den Bossche, Dries De Bondt, Quinten Hermans, Alex Edmondson, Stan Dewulf, Enzo Paleni, Josef Cerny, and Luke Lamperti, prompting the peloton to pursue them vigorously. They were caught after 20 kilometers of relentless chasing.

Asgreen continued to push forward, joined by Louis Meintjes, Mirco Maestri, Martin Marcellusi, and Clément Davy. The five created a 2-minute lead over the peloton, but Meintjes soon decided to fall back, concluding his effort.

On the first climb of the day, Davy was dropped, while Giulio Ciccone had to let go of the peloton following a crash during the final 22 kilometers. Other contenders for the general classification also faced challenges, although none as significant as Ciccone's.

Within the last 10 kilometers, the three attackers maintained a 30-second lead. In the first chase group, Olav Kooij and Kaden Groves were the only remaining sprinters, alongside four GC riders: Isaac del Toro, Derek Gee, Richard Carapaz, and Simon Yates.

After the final climb, Asgreen outpaced his breakaway companions to secure a solo victory. Kaden Groves claimed second place in a sprint against Olav Kooij. The leader in the pink jersey finished in the same group, further solidifying his overall lead, while Simon Yates moved up to second place. Juan Ayuso crossed the line in a group over a minute behind, dropping to third overall.
