E3 Saxo Classic, previously known as E3 Harelbeke, has been on the cycling calendar since 1958. Preceding the Tour of Flanders and featuring both hills and cobbles, the race is viewed as a test case for Flanders' cycling high mass itself.
Winning the race five times, Tom Boonen is the undisputed king of the E3 Saxo Classic, formerly known as the E3 Harelbeke. Back in the day, his countryman Rick Van Looy was victorious four times in the classic.
Wout van Aert is currently the best active rider, having won the race two times.
