2024 Tour of the Alps Stage 2 Live Coverage

Course Preview
The 2nd stage of the Tour of the Alps travels from Salorno to Stans. At 189.1 kilometres, it's the longest stage of the week, while the elevation gain adds up to 2,510 metres. A 4.5 kilometres climb at 7.6% spices the finale and the home straight runs slightly uphill.
The only obstacle in the first 70 kilometres of the race is a short climb after 10 kilometres. The riders follow the Adige River and then the Braibach upstream, so the road goes ever so slightly uphill. After Brixen, gradients increase a little as the riders enter the Brenner Pass, though it’s still nothing special—around 3% mostly. The steepest kilometre, at almost 7%, appears 9 kilometres before the summit.
The riders are 117 kilometres underway when they reach the highest point of the day – at 1,388 metres, also the Italian-Austrian border. They fly down towards Innsbruck, but without entering the city. The route runs underneath the hub of the 2018 World Championships (Valverde took the rainbow stripes). A double digit ramp in Aldrans gives a first taste of what the finale has to offer, but it’s still a long way to go at this point.
The route continues through the valley of the Inn and crosses the river just before the Gnadenwald presents 4.5 kilometres with an average gradient of 7.6%. The first 3 kilometres are the most challenging, as this section rises at 9.2%.
The riders reach the summit with 13.4 kilometres to go. Following the downhill and a false flat downward through the valley, the last 500 meters go uphill again, although at moderate gradients.
The first three riders on the line gain time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds, while the intermediate sprints come with 3, 2 and 1 seconds.
