2024 Paris-Nice Stage 3 Live Coverage
Welcome to our live coverage of Stage 3 of the 2024 Paris-Nice! Our live time-trial times and commentary are below, followed by a preview of the technical aspects of the route.
Course Preview
The time trial on Paris-Nice is 32.2 kilometres. It's a team effort on undulating terrain with two minor climbs standing out. Teams receive the time of the first rider across the line, while individual riders are given their individual finishing times.
So, that’s the format which was introduced last year. Usually, teams are given the time set by the fourth rider in the squad to cross the line. The new format inspired Magnus Cort and Tadej Pogacar to go solo in the finale and set the time for their teams and themselves. Cort took the yellow jersey this way.
This year’s course is harder than back then, as the route is more undulating. The route heads to the south and returns to Auxerre after moving through villages such as Vaux, Jussy, Gy-l’Évêque and Vallan. Two undulations stand out. The first one begins just after Vaux and slopes for 2 kilometres at 4.6%; the second one is similar – 0.2% steeper, just al long – and begins after Jussy.
The team reach the highest points of the second climb after 14.1 kilometres. That’s where the intemediate times are taken. The road goes every so slighlt downhill in the subsequent 12 kilometres before the last kilometres rises at 3.1% to the line.
Last year’s TTT was won by Jumbo-Visma (now Visma | Lease a Bike), 1 second ahead of EF Education-EasyPost (Cort), while Team Jayco Alula crossed the line with a 4 seconds deficit.
