Course Preview
Winning the Madrid sprint would be the icing on the cake for the fast men who are still on board after three weeks of racing in the second most mountainous country in Europe. La Vuelta to conclude on a 5.8 kilometres circuit in Madrid's city centre. The final stage is 96.7 kilometres long.
The riders pedal to the 5.8 kilometres circuit in the centre of Spain. Passeo del Prado, Passeo de Recoletos, Calle de Alcalá and the Gran Via feature prominently on the circuit before the race ends at the Plaza de Cibeles.
It’s a safe bet that we’ll see a bunch sprint in Madrid. The stage winner succeeds Pascal Achermann (2020), Fabio Jakobsen (2019), Elia Viviani (2018), Matteo Trentin (2017), Magnus Cort (2016), John Degenkolb (2015, 2012), Michael Matthews (2013), Peter Sagan (2011), and Tyler Farrar (2010).
Last year’s Vuelta did not finish in Madrid but with an ITT into Santiago de Compostela, where Primoz Roglic took both the stage honours and sealed his third GC victory in a row.
