2022 Giro d'Italia Stage 17 Live Coverage

Course Preview
At 165 kilometres, stage 17 on the Giro travels over four alpine peaks from Ponte di Legno to Lavarone. The finish lies 8 kilometres after the last mountain, Menador, an ascent of 7.9 kilometres at 9.9%.
Ponte di Legno saw its last stage finish three editions ago. At the end of a hard race in beastly weather Giulio Ciccone outsprinted Jan Hirt on the line. Back then, the Mortirolo served as the last climb, now the riders head in the opposite direction to tackle the Passo del Tonale once the flag drops. After cresting the 10.9 kilometres climb at 5.9% the route descends for tens of kilometres.
It’s only in San Michele all’Adige, after almost 80 kilometres, that the road start to climb again. After a 7 kilometres climb at 6% to Palù di Giovo the course continues on rolling terrain to the base of the Passo del Vetriolo. That’s a 13.5 kilometres test at 7.5%.
The Giro drops down to Caldanazo and shortly the finish climb appears. The Menador – or, Monte Rovere – is an ascent of 7,9 kilometres long with an average gradients of 9.9%. At 12.6%, the penultimate kilometre is the most intimidating part.
After the Menador the route continues to climb at shallow gradients for a few kilometres before a descent leads to the slightly uphill finish.
