Course Preview

The women's individual time trial at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo is partly played out on the Fuji International Speedway. The women tackle a 22.1 kilometres course with an elevation gain of 423 metres.

The hilly course is similar to the route that the men raced earlier, although the women tackle the 22.1 kilometres lap only once, while the men cover the same roads twice.

The start ramp is situated at the Fuji International Speedway and following a downhill section the riders leave the race track to reach the first climb at kilometre 5. It is an uphill of approximately 5 kilometres with an average gradient of 4.5%.

Straight after the descent the riders re-enter the Fuji International Speedway. Again, the tarmac rises at 4.5%, although the uphill is only 2 kilometres long this time before the road levels out. A rolling section of more than 2 kilometer runs to the finish line.

There will be a new Olympic Champion for the first time in 12 years. The now retired Kristin Armstrong won the title in Peking 2008, London 2012 and Rio 2016.

The first rider starts at 11.30 and the last rider is expected to finish around 13.30 – both are local times (JST).
