Roglic takes all on stage 10

Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) regained the red jersey today at the Vuelta a Espana after dominating the uphill sprint to Suances. The defending champion unleashed the kind of power that couldn't be matched by Felix Grossschartner (Bora-Hansgrohe) and Andrea Bagioli (Deceuninck-Quick Step), who took second and third after the 157.7km flat stage along the coast of Northern Spain.

“It's always nice to win,” said Roglic. “Never get used to winning. The legs felt really good today and I am very happy with this victory. The team has put me in a good position and this victory is theirs. I am now a year older and a year stronger. It's like a good wine. The older the better. The fact that I have the red jersey again makes little difference to us as a team. We must try to keep the momentum and most of all stay focused and stick to our own plan. I look forward to the next two mountain stages. It will be a nice spectacle to watch. ”

Roglic now sits at the same time as Richard Carapaz (INEOS). Dan Martin is still in third overall at 28 seconds.

"It was actually a very calm stage, but the finale was very nervous," Carapaz said. "A lot of teams we’re interested in being at the front. The team again did a great job in the finale, but Roglic was too strong today."

Tomorrow we have a hilly affair with four category 1 climbs, with the final one at the finish. The 170km stage, from Villaviciosa to Alto de La Farrapona. Lagos de Somiedo starts at 12:24 p.m. CET.
