2026 World Championships TT Race Preview & Route Profile
The details of this year's 2026 World Championships TT are falling into place. Find the race profile and map below, followed by our strategic preview of the race.
The men’s elite individual time trial will close out the opening day of the 2026 UCI Road World Championships on Sunday, September 20, in Montréal, Canada.
Racing begins at 12:45 p.m. EDT and is scheduled to finish around 3:15 p.m.
The men will tackle the same 39.2-kilometer course used by the elite women earlier Sunday. The route features approximately 220 meters of elevation gain and is largely flat and technical before a rising finish.
Starting on Avenue du Parc, riders will race through Montréal and along the St. Lawrence River before reaching Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, home of Formula 1’s Canadian Grand Prix.
The course also passes through Parc Jean-Drapeau and crosses the Concorde Bridge as riders return toward central Montréal, with the finish at Parc Jeanne-Mance.
Belgium’s Remco Evenepoel enters as the defending champion and will attempt to win his fourth consecutive elite world time trial title. Evenepoel won the world championship in 2023, 2024 and 2025 and also claimed Olympic time trial gold in Paris in 2024.
Italy’s Filippo Ganna is expected to provide one of the biggest challenges. The two-time world champion has remained one of the sport’s leading time trial specialists and the relatively flat Montréal course provides plenty of opportunity for powerful riders.
Switzerland’s Stefan Küng is another experienced contender, while American Brandon McNulty, France’s Paul Seixas and Sweden’s Jakob Söderqvist are among the other riders to watch.
The men’s event follows the women’s elite time trial, which begins at 9 a.m. EDT.
