Stage 17 of the 2026 Vuelta a España is in the books. The final results and standings are below, followed by our recap of how the race unfolded.
Race Recap
Matthew Brennan (TVL) took his fifth win of this race as the stage into Seville concluded with the bunch sprint that was widely predicted. Forced off the wheel of Wout van Aert (TVL) in a frenetic finale, Brennan took up position behind Magnus Cort (UXM), who was led out by Rasmus Tiller (UXM). When Cort opened up, Brennan burst through on his right and was a bike length clear at the line.
Jordi Meeus (RBH) came through late to take second place ahead of Magnus Cort (UXM), with Alessandro Romele (XAT) a close fourth and Steffen De Schuyteneer (LOI) a close fifth.
The long stage was enlivened by breakaway duo Enzo Paleni (GFC) and Sinuhe Fernandez (BBH). Paleni pressed on alone in the final kilometres, but was reeled in 3km from the finish.
