2026 Volta ao Algarve Stage 3 Live Coverage
Welcome to our live coverage of Stage 3 of the 2026 Volta ao Algarve! Our live time-trial times and commentary are below, followed by a preview of the technical aspects of the route.
Course Preview
The 3rd stage of the Volta ao Algarve is a golden opportunity for the time trial specialists to shine. The 19.5-kilometre course is flat to slightly undulating.
The organisation expects the fastest riders to complete the course in around 24 minutes. That would equate to average speeds of up to 48 kilometres per hour. It may prove to be a somewhat conservative estimate.
The route features 147 metres of elevation gain and since it’s not particularly technical either, higher speeds could very well be possible. Granted, the opening section is slightly tricky and a U-turn after 4.5 kilometres will significantly disrupt the rhythm, but from that point on nothing stands in the way of building up breakneck speeds.
Last year’s time trial at the Volta ao Algarve was a climbers’s affair. Held on the final day, it saw Jonas Vingegaard secure both the stage win and the overall victory.
