2026 Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana Stage 3 Results & Recap
Stage 3 of the 2026 Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana is in the books. The final results and standings are below, followed by our recap of how the race unfolded.
Race Recap
Andrew August (INEOS Grenadiers) took the first win of his professional career when he outsprinted Ådne Holter (Uno-X Mobility), Florian Vermeersch (UAE Team Emirates XRG) and Jonathan Vervenne (Soudal Quick-Step) in Sant Vicent de Raspeig. The 20-year-old American came from the back of the line in the final straight and held Holter off to take the victory, with the bunch finishing a couple of seconds behind this quartet.
The four riders had come together descending the only categorised climb of the day, the Puerto de Tibi. Vermeersch instigated the move, the Belgian the latest of a number of UAE Team Emirates riders who attempted to go clear after the climb. August was the first to bridge up to him, followed by Holter and then Vervenne.
With his fast-finishing teammate Ben Turner in the chase group behind, August stuck to team orders and didn't contribute in the breakaway. That freshness paid off in the final straight with a long-awaited first success for the young American who's been tipped for very big things.
Binam Girmay (NSN) kept the leader's jersey, although he's now tied on time with Holter.
