Course Preview
Stage 2 of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana is a 17.5-kilometre individual time trial. The course is fairly twisty and features 168 metres of climbing.
The elevation gain comes from a section that begins to rise around the 6-kilometre mark. The gradients are generally modest, although there are some ramps reaching around 8%. Overall, it’s more of a gentle rolling 3-kilometre section than a proper climb.
Once over the top, the road drops slightly more steeply than the preceding climb, leaving 7 kilometres to the finish. This part of the course has the fewest corners, allowing the riders to reach breakneck speeds. Although, it’s not a slow course to begin with. The organisers are expecting average speeds of up to 53 kilometres per hour.
