2026 Volta a Catalunya Stage 7 Results & Recap
Stage 7 of the 2026 Volta a Catalunya is in the books. The final results and standings are below, followed by our recap of how the race unfolded.
Race Recap
Brady Gilmore (NSN) grabbed the first professional victory of his career when he outsprinted Dorian Godon (IGD) and Remco Evenepoel (RBH) in a super-fast finish that concluded the traditional finale of the Volta a Catalunya on the Montjuic hill in Barcelona.
Safely tucked into the group that came in on the heels of this trio, Jonas Vingegaard (TVL) wrapped up his first success in this event and his second stage race victory in a fortnight having won Paris-Nice on his 2026 season debut.
The short stage featured seven laps of a punchy circuit on Montjuic, which will host the finale of the Tour de France's opening team time trial stage on the first weekend of July. The two hills on the lap were packed with fans and the riders served up quite a show for them.
There were attacks aplenty, mountains leader Giulio Ciccone (LTK) dueling with his main rival Marc Soler (UAD) for that title, while Oscar Onley (IGD) and Red Bull duo Florian Lipowitz and Remco Evenepoel were also very active.
On the final lap, Vingegaard was always very close to the front on the climb and led down the very rapid descent leading into the finish. Nearing the line, it appeared that Godon, already the winner of two stages this week, had timed his effort perfectly, but Gilmore denied the French champion a hat-trick, bursting through on his right for a breakthrough victory.
