2026 Tour of the Alps Stage 5 Results & Recap
Stage 5 of the 2026 Tour of the Alps is in the books. The final results and standings are below, followed by our recap of how the race unfolded.
Race Recap
Giulio Pellizzari won the Tour of the Alps today. Stage and overall β both on the slopes of Nobls/Montoppio, in a performance that announced this 22-year-old Italian as one of the most compelling climbers in the peloton right now.
The final stage was 128.6km from Trento to Bolzano, built around a 19km circuit ridden twice with the 12.7km category 1 Montoppio (averaging 7%) as its centrepiece. A large breakaway went clear early β yesterday's winner Lennart Jasch, Tom Pidcock, Sam Oomen and Koen Bouwman among those building an advantage of over two minutes. Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe worked hard to keep the deficit manageable.
Ineos Grenadiers reduced the peloton on the final Montoppio ascent. With 20km to go, Pellizzari went. Arensman followed briefly. Bernal too. And then Pellizzari went again β a second acceleration that neither could match. He crested the summit alone, extended his lead on the long descent to Bolzano, and crossed the line with his arms raised. Egan Bernal arrived second, 40 seconds back. Arensman third at 50 seconds. Final GC: Pellizzari, Bernal at 40 seconds, Arensman at 50 seconds. In winning stages 2 and 5, Pellizzari also took the young rider classification. It was his first career stage race title, and on this evidence, far from his last.
