2026 Tour of the Alps Stage 1 Results & Recap
Stage 1 of the 2026 Tour of the Alps is in the books. The final results and standings are below, followed by our recap of how the race unfolded.
Race Recap
The Tour of the Alps opened with a surprise today. Tommaso Dati of Continental team UKYO beat Tom Pidcock to the line in Innsbruck, winning the stage sprint and taking the first leader's jersey against a WorldTour-heavy field that did not expect to be beaten by a Continental rider in a bunch sprint.
The 144.3km circuit race featured two laps of a course around Innsbruck that included the Götzens climb (4km at 7%) and a drag to Axams before the descent and flat run to the finish. An early three-rider breakaway was eventually caught inside the final 5km, and Thymen Arensman (Ineos Grenadiers) launched a brave late solo move that looked threatening before the GC riders closed it down near the line. The resulting sprint was tight — Dati was positioned perfectly and edged Pidcock at the finish, with Florian Stork third. Giulio Pellizzari, Egan Bernal and Arensman all arrived intact. Tomorrow's summit finish at Val Martello will tell us who is really here to race.
