2026 Tour de France Stage 18 Results & Recap
Stage 18 of the 2026 Tour de France is in the books. The final results and standings are below, followed by our recap of how the race unfolded.
Race Recap
Richard Carapaz (EFE) took his second victory at the Tour de France, finishing alone at Orcières-Merlette after attacking from the six-man breakaway on the cat 1 climb to the finish. The Ecuadorean sprinted away from Mauro Schmid (JAY), Matteo Jorgenson (TVL), Valentin Paret-Peintre (SOQ), Tobias Halland Johannessen (UXM) and Raúl García Pierna (MOV), who finished in that order behind him.
Like yesterday, the stage saw attacks aplenty. EF Education-EasyPost were in the thick of the action from the start, determined to put a man in the break of the day and with Carapaz their principal hope.
Jorgenson, Johannessen and Felix Engelhardt (JAY) began the winning break from a big escape group 50km from the fnish. García Pierna and Schmid bridged across, then, as Engelhardt lost ground, Carapaz and Paret-Peintre made it up to the front too.
Carapaz made his critical attack 3km from the finish and crossed the line 45 seconds clear of Schmid and Jorgenson. There was no significant change in the GC, although Tadej Pogačar (UEX) lost teammate Brandon McNulty (UEX), who abandoned due to illness.
