Course Preview
Stage 4 on the Giro d’Italia Women has got GC vibes all over, as the riders face a 12.7-kilometre climbing time trial. The steepest section rises at double-digit gradients for more than 4 kilometres.
The route totals 750 metres of elevation gain. None of that comes in the opening 1.5 kilometres, as this is the only downhill section along the way — after that, it is all uphill.
Initially it is still manageable, but after the intermediate time check the road climbs for 4.3 kilometres at an average of 10.3%. It then eases slightly and continues uphill for a further 1.6 kilometres at a 6.4% gradient. After that there is a short stretch of virtually flat road before the final 500 metres rise again at 6%.
As mentioned, the split point comes just before the steepest section. The riders reach it after 5.3 kilometres.. Get more details at cyclingstage.com.
