2026 Flanders Fields Results & Recap
2026 Flanders Fields is in the books. The final results and standings are below, followed by our recap of how the race unfolded.
Race Recap
Jasper Philipsen (APT) took what had hitherto been an elusive success at In Flanders Fields (previously Gent-Wevelgem) when he led in the bunch after a dramatic finale to the race. The Belgian just edged out Tobias Lund Andresen (DCT) for victory, with Christophe Laporte (TVL) taking third place ahead of Arnaud De Lie (LOI) and Robert Donaldson (JAY).
The race was lit up by the latest captivating instalment in the rivalry between Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert. The two superstars broke clear of the peloton on the second ascent of the Kemmelberg, where Florian Vermeersch (UAD) was the only rider able to stay with the pair.
This trio quickly bridged up to six breakaway riders and built a lead of close to a minute approaching the Kemmelberg for the third time. Riding up its steepest Ossuary flank on this final occasion, Van der Poel accelerated hard on the famous cobbled ascent, with Van Aert the only rider able to follow.
Vermeersch was left in between the two leaders and a peloton containing a host of sprinters, whose teammates set about reducing a deficit on 1'10" with 35km left to the finish. With numbers on their side, the bunch gradually ate up the ground to Vermeersch, then closed inexorably on Van der Poel and Van Aert.
With 4km remaining, Alec Segaert (TBV) attacked from the bunch and bridged across to the lead pair, but that reinforcement came too late. As they were reeled in, Segaert made one final effort to go solo, but the sprinters weren't to be denied.
The irrepressible Van der Poel still had enough juice left to lead out Philipsen, who just held off Lund.
