Filippo Ganna wins Stage 18 time trial in Valladolid

Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers) stormed to victory in the shortened 12.2-kilometre individual time trial in Valladolid, stopping the clock in 13 minutes flat to average more than 56 km/h.

Jay Vine (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) came within a second of the Italian, while teammate João Almeida was third at +7.57 seconds. Bruno Armirail (Decathlon–AG2R La Mondiale) and Ivo Oliveira (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) rounded out the top five.

General classification leader Jonas Vingegaard (Visma–Lease a Bike) finished ninth at +18.02, retaining the red jersey and a 50-second lead over Almeida. Tom Pidcock (Q36.5) extended his advantage over Jai Hindley (Red Bull–Bora–Hansgrohe) in the fight for third overall, gaining three seconds to sit 39 seconds ahead.
