Soler solos to La Farrapona as Vingegaard holds red
Stage 14 of La Vuelta 2025 ended with fireworks on the slopes of La Farrapona, where Marc Soler (UAE Team Emirates XRG) launched a decisive attack just before the final climb. The Spaniard rode clear of his breakaway companions and never looked back, holding off the general classification contenders to take a dramatic solo victory.
Behind him, Jonas Vingegaard (Visma | Lease a Bike) and João Almeida (UAE Team Emirates XRG) led the GC charge. The pair crossed the line 39 seconds down on Soler, with Vingegaard edging Almeida to second place on the stage. Jai Hindley of Red Bull–BORA–hansgrohe came in close behind at 43 seconds, while Felix Gall (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale) was fifth at 48 seconds. Giulio Pellizzari, Matthew Riccitello, Tom Pidcock and Sepp Kuss all finished in the same group at 53 seconds, with Finlay Pickering (Bahrain Victorious) rounding out the top ten at 1:25.
The overall standings saw little change at the top. Vingegaard retained the red jersey with a time of 53:19:49, holding a 48-second advantage over Almeida. Pidcock remained in third place at 2:38, with Hindley fourth at 3:10 and Gall fifth at 3:30. Pellizzari, Riccitello, Kuss, Torstein Træen and Matteo Jorgenson completed the top ten, all within nine minutes of the leader.
For Soler, the victory at La Farrapona was a career highlight, echoing his near-miss at the same summit in 2020. For Vingegaard, it was another solid defense of La Roja, as the Dane continues to keep Almeida at bay in the fight for overall supremacy.
