Stage 2 of the 2025 Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana is in the books. The final results and standings are below, followed by our recap of how the race unfolded.

Buitrago Wins Stage 2
Santiago Buitrago caught up with his teammate Pello Bilbao in the final kilometer of the steep finishing climb. The Colombian claimed victory in the stage, while Mathias Vacek put in a strong effort to maintain his lead in the general classification.
Samuele Zoccarato, Sinuhé Fernández, Quentin Bezza, and Pau Llanares initiated the breakaway. The latter had difficulty maintaining the pace, and Vicente Rojas and Matyáš Kopecký took his spot.
The five attackers initially built a significant lead, but by the time they arrived at the foot of Coll de Rates, that advantage had shrunk to just 2 minutes. At the summit, Kopecky claimed the KOM sprint, but when they reached the base of the next climb, the peloton had reformed.
Tobias Foss initiated an attack and led the climb from start to finish. The Norwegian reached the summit first, but his lead was slim.
Iván Romeo and Pello Bilbao caught up to Foss to take on the final climb half a minute ahead of the pursuing riders.
Foss was the first to lose contact, followed later by Romeo. In the group behind, yellow jersey Mathias Vacek was dropped.
Meanwhile, Santiago Buitrago broke away from the remaining chasers and rejoined his teammate Bilbao. The Colombian left the Spaniard behind and won the race. Almost one minute later, Vacek crossed the finish line with foam on his lips. The Czech pushed hard, and his reward was well deserved: he retained the yellow jersey.\n
