Simmons Wins Ultra-short Stage
While riding, the contenders learned that the 6th stage would be a 25-kilometer race and that the times would not count towards the overall classification. This led to a short, explosive finale, with Quinn Simmons emerging victorious following a successful attack in the final kilometre. Juan Ayuso retained the overall lead.
The race began under neutralized conditions before the flag was dropped with 25 kilometers to go. Frank van den Broek, Rémy Rochas, and Carlos Verona were in it, launching an attack. Diego Uriarte also bridged across to them, but in the final 10 kilometers, only Verona and Van den Broek remained in the lead.
The two were caught, and Van den Broek stayed active. However, he was certainly not the only one; attacks were happening everywhere.
In the final kilometre, Quinn Simmons made his move. The course rose all the way to the finish line, and the American just managed to hold on long enough to keep the sprinters at bay.
