Albanese Outpaces Sprinters, Grégoire Maintains GC Lead
Vincenzo Albanese executed a late move to secure his position in the second stage of the Tour de Suisse, while Romain Grégoire held onto the yellow jersey.
Silvan Dillier, Mauro Schmid, and Jonas Rutsch launched an early attack, achieving a lead of 2 minutes.
Dillier fell behind on the Guggisberg climb, and during the Tissot kilometre, race leader Romain Grégoire earned 1 bonus second. Rutsch was dropped from the breakaway as the peloton closed in on Schmid.
With 14 kilometres left, the peloton regrouped.
In the final 3 kilometres, Jan Christen initiated a fierce attack. After he was caught, Quinn Simmons surged forward, followed by Lewis Askey, who connected with Vincenzo Albanese and Fabio Christen closely behind. As they advanced, the peloton began its sprint, with Simmons leading Albanese, who finished strongly.
Grégoire crossed the finish line with the peloton and increased his lead due to the intermediate sprint.
