Race Recap
Jay Vine Climbs to Victory
Jay Vine claimed victory with an attack from the flamme rouge on the challenging finish in Cossonay. Lenny Martinez sprinted past João Almeida for second place, while Alex Baudin maintained his overall lead.
The breakaway featured Bauke Mollema, Stefan Küng, Tobias Bayer, and Huub Artz. Bayer fell behind, while the remaining three extended their lead to 6 minutes over the peloton.
On the Col du Mollendruz, Mollema was dropped from the break as their advantage shrank to under 3 minutes. Küng continued the push alone, with 46 kilometres still to go.
Küng’s solo effort ended within the last 12 kilometres, leading into the final uphill stretch. The pace intensified, leaving only a small group under the flamme rouge. That’s when Jay Vine surged ahead—no one reacted, and he quickly built a substantial lead. This gap was enough to fend off the pursuing riders, allowing him to finish with 2 seconds to spare before Lenny Martinez narrowly defeated João Almeida in the sprint for second.
Race leader Alex Baudin finished comfortably in the front group, securing the red jersey.
