Course Preview

The 9th stage of the Tour de France spans 170 kilometers between Chinon and Châteauroux. With an elevation gain of less than 1,300 meters, the sprinters are anticipated to excel.

As the riders near the core of France in this stage, they also approach a legendary site. Mark Cavendish’s remarkable 35-stage winning streak began in Châteauroux in 2008, which he replicated at Avenue de la Châtre in 2011 and 2021.

Thus, Châteauroux has earned the nickname Cavendish Town. It perfectly encapsulates the main objective of the stage from Chinon to Châteauroux. Avoiding a bunch sprint will be a challenge, given the course’s simplicity. The riders will travel directly from the historic wine town of Chinon eastward to finish at Avenue de la Châtre in Châteauroux. Who will take the victory from the Manx Missile?
