Race Recap
Pogacar Stamps his Dominance
A small group raced for victory at the Mûr-de-Bretagne, and Tadej Pogacar proved to be the strongest. He not only won the stage but also regained the yellow jersey. Jonas Vingegaard and Oscar Onley finished second and third.
Wout van Aert and Mauro Schmid opened up a gap early on. The peloton kept chasing, and the two were caught at kilometer 20.
There was still no breakaway after 55 kilometers of attacking, but then it was jackpot: Geraint Thomas broke free with Alex Baudin, Marco Haller, Iván García, and Ewen Costiou. The five built a lead of one and a half minutes.
At the first crossing of the finish line, only Costiou remained out front. The peloton crossed the line 20 seconds later.
Costiou’s day at the front ended with 12 km remaining, while João Almeida, Enric Mas, and Ben Healy went down in a crash in the final 5 kilometers.
