Race Recap
Healy Wins Stage 6
Ben Healy shone as the hero of the day. He was the first to initiate an attack and then dropped his fellow escapees in the final 42 kilometers, riding solo to victory. Mathieu van der Poel also took part in the breakaway and managed to reclaim the yellow jersey.
The peloton stayed together until the intermediate sprint, where Jonathan Milan secured the maximum points ahead of Mathieu van der Poel and Biniam Girmay. Immediately after, Ben Healy and Quinn Simmons launched an attack.
On the Côte du Mont Pinçon, Harold Tejada and Victor Campenaerts caught up to the leading duo, but the peloton was back on their wheels before reaching the top.
Wout van Aert then made a move, with Pablo Castrillo joining him. That attack ended just before the Côte de la Rançonnière.
Ben Healy then attacked on the false flat after the Côte de la Rançonnière, and was joined by Mathieu van der Poel, Will Barta, Harold Tejada, and Quinn Simmons.
The peloton chased hard, and with 132 kilometers remaining, Eddie Dunbar bridged across to the breakaway, followed by Michael Storer and Simon Yates.
Despite continuous attacks and relentless pace, the lead grew to 4 minutes — putting Van der Poel in a position to wear the virtual yellow jersey.
With 42 kilometers to go, Healy attacked and gained a 30-second lead within 5 kilometers. He extended this advantage until Simmons and Storer responded with their own chase.
Healy's efforts proved decisive, and he powered to a perfect victory. Van der Poel finished four minutes later, regaining the yellow jersey by just 1 second.
