Course Preview
The riders make their way through Normandy in the sixth stage. As the longest leg of the Tour de France, it presents a significant challenge with approximately 3,500 meters of elevation across a 201-kilometer course. The finish line is set at the top of a short but steep climb.
Last year’s stage champion Kevin Vauquelin hails from Bayeux, the race's starting point in northern Normandy. A climber not afraid of steep inclines, he will surely be focused on the route to Vire Romandie. The terrain consists of continuous ascents and descents throughout the day. While the climbs may not be lengthy, their relentless nature will exhaust the riders.
This race through central Normandy could evolve into a test of endurance. After a rolling initial segment, the Mont Pinçon presents a 5.6-kilometer ascent at 3.7% following 38 kilometers. This sets the stage as competitors face La Rançonièrre (2.3 kilometers at 7.5%), Côte de la Batonnière (4.1 kilometers at 4.2%), Côte de la Tertre Bizet (3.9 kilometers at 3.6%), Côte de Mortain (2.5 kilometers at 6.1%), Côte de Juvigny-le-Tertre (1.9 kilometers at 7.3%), and Côte de Saint-Michel-de-Montjoie (4.4 kilometers at 3.6%) over the subsequent 150 kilometers.
The riders then descend from the CĂ´te de Saint-Michel-de-Montjoie down to the base of the CĂ´te de Vaudry, which offers a 1.5-kilometer climb at 6.3%, with sections reaching as steep as 11.2%. The hill culminates with 4.5 kilometers remaining, followed by a 1.5-kilometer descent and a brief flat stretch, concluding the stage with a 700-meter ramp at a steep 10%.
