Wout Van Aert Wins Final Stage in Paris
Wout van Aert (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) capped off a dramatic final stage in Paris with a brilliant solo victory on the Champs-Élysées, breaking away on the final ascent of the Côte de la Butte Montmartre and holding off the chasing group to win by 19 seconds. The Belgian earned his 10th career Tour de France stage win and his second on the famed Parisian boulevard.
Davide Ballerini (Xandro Tech) and Matej Mohorič (Bahrain Victorious) rounded out the podium in second and third, respectively, while Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates XRG) finished fourth. That result was enough to confirm Pogačar’s fourth overall victory in the Tour de France, sealing a dominant campaign that included six stage wins and the mountains classification.
The newly redesigned final circuit, including three ascents of the cobbled Côte de la Butte Montmartre, brought a more aggressive and unpredictable dynamic to what is usually a sprinter’s stage. Despite intermittent rain and a slick course, the finale delivered fireworks, with multiple attacks on the final laps before Van Aert made the decisive move.
