Arensman Takes La Plagne, Pogacar Holds Yellow\nBy Clara Beard

Thymen Arensman (INEOS Grenadiers) claimed his second Tour de France mountain stage win in La Plagne on Friday, fending off late charges from GC leaders Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) and Tadej PogaÄŤar (UAE Team Emirates) on a rain-slicked summit finish.

The Dutchman launched a decisive solo attack with just over 14 kilometers to go and held his advantage as the yellow jersey group closed in during the final stretch. Despite the flamme rouge revealing Arensman ahead, Pogačar and Vingegaard couldn’t close the final meters. Vingegaard edged Pogačar for second, both finishing two seconds behind.

The 93.1-kilometer stage, shortened due to a cattle disease outbreak affecting the original route, retained its sting with three major climbs: the Col du Pré, the Cormet de Roselend, and the brutal 19.1-kilometer ascent to La Plagne. Early fireworks came from Lenny Martinez (Team Bahrain Victorious) and Primož Roglič (Red Bull–BORA–Hansgrohe), who animated the breakaway before being reeled in.

Pogačar, who attacked several times with no lasting effect, retains the yellow jersey heading into the penultimate stage. Vingegaard remains second overall at +4:26, while Florian Lipowitz (Red Bull–BORA–Hansgrohe) sits third at +11:01.
