Ferrand-Prévot Seizes Yellow on Queen Stage
Pauline Ferrand-Prévot delivered a brilliant solo victory in the Queen Stage of the 2025 Tour de France Femmes, conquering the brutal Col de la Madeleine and taking the overall lead from Kimberley Le Court Pienaar.
The French multi-discipline world champion (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) attacked from a select lead group with just over 8 kilometers remaining on the summit finish and powered away on her own. Behind her, Sarah Gigante (AG Insurance - Soudal) rode clear of the chasers to take second on the stage and move up to second overall. Niamh Fisher-Black (Lidl-Trek) held off the remnants of the breakaway to secure third place on the day.
Le Court Pienaar, who started the day in yellow, cracked on the final ascent and slipped out of the top three overall. Ferrand-Prévot now leads Gigante by 1 minute and 5 seconds, with Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Canyon//SRAM Zondacrypto) sitting third at 1:11.
Demi Vollering (FDJ-Suez), another GC favorite, lost time and is now over two minutes down in the general classification. Despite her team’s efforts earlier in the stage, she was unable to match the accelerations on the final climb.
The stage, which included 3,500 meters of climbing over just 111.9 kilometers, shattered the field early. Élise Chabbey (FDJ-Suez) animated the race from the front, collecting more QOM points and defending her polka-dot jersey.
With one final Alpine test remaining—a stage featuring the iconic Col de Joux Plane and a finish in Portes du Soleil—the yellow jersey remains far from secure, but Ferrand-Prévot has now firmly staked her claim as the rider to beat.\n
