Maeva Squiban doubles up with back-to-back mountain victories\nBy Clara Beard
Maeva Squiban (UAE Team ADQ) claimed her second consecutive stage win at the Tour de France Femmes with a dominant solo ride through the mountains on Stage 7 from Bourg-en-Bresse to Chambéry. The 159.7-kilometer route featured nearly 2,000 meters of elevation and ended with a technical 17.3-kilometer descent from the Col du Garnier.
Squiban attacked with 20 km to go and gradually distanced her closest rivals, holding off a late chase from Mareille Meijering (Movistar) and Ruth Edwards (Human Powered Health), who finished second and third, respectively.
Despite briefly being dropped on the final climb, yellow jersey holder Kim Le Court-Pienaar (AG Insurance–Soudal Team) limited her losses on the descent and retained the overall lead heading into the Queen Stage. She now faces increasing pressure from Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, Katarzyna Niewiadoma, Demi Vollering, and Anna van der Breggen—all within striking distance.
Squiban also collected maximum Queen of the Mountains points on two climbs and has quickly emerged as a standout climber of this Tour.
Tomorrow’s Queen Stage will test the GC contenders with a summit finish at the legendary Col de la Madeleine. Racing begins at 1:45 p.m. CEST.
