Double Win Ayuso in Queen Stage
Juan Ayuso took control in the Queen Stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico. He dropped Tom Pidcock, Jai Hindley, and Mikel Landa in the final 3 kilometers and soloed to victory. The Spaniard moved into the lead in the general classification, ahead of Antonio Tiberi and Filippo Ganna.
After approximately 15 kilometres of action, Gianni Vermeersch attacked. Magnus Cort, Andrea Vendrame, Samuele Battistella, Jasper Stuyven, and Andrea Pietrobon immediately joined him, while Chris Hamilton and Benjamin Thomas pursued them. The eight riders gained nearly 5 minutes on the peloton.
The lead group tackled the climb to the line 1.30 minutes ahead of the peloton.
Vendrame surged ahead alone in the last 5 kilometers, while leader Filippo Ganna lost contact with the peloton. Then, Juan Ayuso picked up the pace. With Tom Pidcock, Jai Hindley, and Mikel Landa on his wheel, the Spaniard continued to set the tempo until he was alone at the front of the race.
Ayuso solidified his lead in the final 3 kilometers, claiming the stage win and the leader’s jersey. Antonio Tiberi finished fifth and moved up to second place, 1 second ahead of Ganna and 5 seconds ahead of Derek Gee.
