Commanding sprint triumph for Milan, Ganna remains the leader

Jonathan Milan capped off a perfect lead-out by Lidl-Trek to storm to victory, beating runner-up Maikel Zijlaard by a few bike lengths. Filippo Ganna maintained his lead in the general classification. As the riders approached the only climb of the day, the gap reduced to one minute, motivating teammates Davide Bais and Alessandro Tonelli to chase. They caught the soloist, and at the summit, Bais secured the most mountain points.

“Last year, we came here, but I couldn’t get the win," Milan said. "We learned from that experience, and today, we raced perfectly. The team guided and launched me exactly as we had planned. It was a fantastic day—we always had the situation under control. I’m super happy and proud of my teammates. We can enjoy this victory now and then focus on the next stages”.

The peloton reeled in the attackers with 38 kilometres remaining, while Dylan Groenewegen crashed leading up to the finale and was forced to chase.

The Dutch champion managed to close the gap with some teammates but did not contribute to the sprint. In fact, only one rider took the spotlight: Jonathan Milan. The Italian completed a flawless lead-out by Lidl-Trek, while Dutchman Maikel Zijlaard finished second, a few bike lengths back.

Filippo Ganna retained his lead in the general classification, 19 seconds ahead of Milan.
