The peloton rolls out for one of cycling's most beloved stage races, a seven-stage journey from the Tyrrhenian coast to the shores of the Adriatic that serves as one of the most important preparation races ahead of Milan-San Remo and the spring classics. Tirreno-Adriatico has long attracted the sport's finest all-round talents, and the 2025 edition promises to be no different.

Tadej Pogacar arrives as the overwhelming favourite, much as he does for almost every race he enters these days. The Slovenian superstar has been in extraordinary form and will be looking to add another Tirreno title to his palmares. His ability to win on punchy climbs, in time trials, and in sprint finishes from a reduced group makes him nearly impossible to contain across a week of racing. UAE Team Emirates will build their entire strategy around protecting and launching their leader.

Remco Evenepoel is expected to challenge strongly, bringing his formidable time trial ability and climbing credentials to a race that traditionally rewards exactly his profile. The Belgian had a strong start to 2024 and will be eager to assert himself in a race that offers several opportunities for a rider of his characteristics.

Jonas Vingegaard could also feature prominently as he continues his comeback to the very top level, with Visma Lease a Bike keen to see where their Danish champion stands ahead of the grand tour season.

The route features enough uphill finishes and at least one individual time trial to ensure the general classification is settled by pure quality rather than luck, and the finale in San Benedetto del Tronto provides a fitting conclusion to a week of racing through the beautiful Italian countryside.
