Stage 2 of the 2025 Santos Tour Down Under is in the books. The final results and standings are below, followed by our recap of how the race unfolded.

Welsford Wins Again
Sam Welsford (Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe) took his second stage win after a bunch gallop into Tanunda and after 128.8 kilometres and 1,598 metres of climbing. The Aussie was dropped on the final climb of the day but regained contact with the peloton around 15 kilometres from the finish.
The breakaway riders were Patrick Konrad, Georg Zimmerman and Fergus Browning. The Australian secured the mountain points along the way, while the other two claimed the most bonus seconds during the intermediate sprints.
Well before the finish, the trio was reeled in by the peloton. Sam Welsford then sprinted to his second consecutive stage victory, partly thanks to his lead-out man, Danny van Poppel. Van Poppel did an excellent job setting up Welsford, disrupting the sprint of oncoming challengers like Tobias Lund Andresen and Phil Bauhaus.
Welsford’s victory strengthens his lead in the general classification.
