Race Recap
Ferrand-Prévot Achieves Solo Victory in Paris-Roubaix Debut
Pauline Ferrand-Prévot secured a significant victory in the Paris-Roubaix Femmes, decisively breaking away from the cobbled section at Camphin-en-Pévèle. Letizia Borghesi and Lorena Wiebes concluded the race in second and third place, respectively. Approximately 30 kilometers into the race, Quinty Ton and Aurela Nerlo initiated the first notable attack, establishing a commanding lead that peaked at around three minutes.
With just over 70 kilometers remaining, only half of this advantage was retained when Ellen van Dijk commenced a solo pursuit. Shortly thereafter, approximately 10 kilometers later, she successfully caught the two leaders. Ton managed to attach herself to van Dijk, while Nerlo could not maintain the pace.
Ton, too, could not sustain the speed as Lotte Kopecky and Loren Wiebes approached the lone attacker on Sector 12. Marianne Vos also managed to bridge the gap.
As the group neared Mons-en-Pévèle, Chloé Dygert, Alison Jackson, Romy Kasper, and Jelena Eric made their presence felt at the front of the race. Upon entering the sector, Kopecky accelerated, with Vos closely trailing her. Upon returning to the paved road, Dygert diminished the gap, accompanied by Wiebes, Jackson, and Eric. However, due to a lack of cooperation among them, a small peloton caught up with the group with 37 kilometers remaining. A few kilometers later, Emma Norsgaard surged ahead, creating a 40-second lead as Pauline Ferrand-Prévot initiated her pursuit within the final 25 kilometers. She successfully caught the Danish rider and outpaced her at Camphin-en-Pévèle.
Ferrand-Prévot reached Carrefour de l’Arbre with a lead of 45 seconds over the main group, subsequently extending her advantage along the cobbled stretches.
