Pogacar Claims Third L-B-L
Tadej Pogacar charged up the Redoute, leaving the rest of the pack trailing behind him. The Slovenian cruised to victory, securing his third win in Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Meanwhile, Giulio Ciccone outpaced Ben Healy in an exciting sprint for second place.
In the breakaway group were Sakarias Koller Løland, Valentin Retailleau, Mathis Le Berre, Hannes Wilksch, Stan Van Tricht, Jack Haig, Kamiel Bonneu, Eduardo Sepúlveda, Rayan Boulahoite, Ceriel Desal, Henri-François Renard-Haquin, and Johan Meens, who opened up a 6-minute lead.
With 60 kilometres to go, the peloton started to reel them in.
The pack held together as they approached La Redoute, but then Tadej Pogacar made his move, leaving the others behind. Tom Pidcock and Ben Healy followed closely, crested the climb in second and third place, and were hot on the heels of Thibau Nys, Julian Alaphilippe, Giulio Ciccone, Romain Grégoire, Ben Tulett, and Louis Barré.
Alaphilippe and Ciccone teamed up with Pidcock and Healy, reaching the base of the Côte des Forges 45 seconds after the World Champion. The gap continued to grow, and by the time they hit the Roche-aux-Faucons, it had widened to over 1 minute.
