Van Uden Crushes Competition on Italian Soil
In the initial stage on Italian territory, the spotlight was on the speedsters. Casper van Uden seized the opportunity, achieving the most significant victory of his career, finishing ahead of Olav Kooij and Maikel Zijlaard. Mads Pedersen maintained his overall lead.
Francisco Muñoz launched an attack right from the outset, quickly establishing a solo lead of 5 minutes as no one chased him down.
During the intermediate sprint in Ostuni, Isaac del Toro and Primoz Roglic secured 4 and 2 bonus seconds, respectively.
With 56 kilometers left, Muñoz’s breakaway concluded, shifting the focus to the sprinters.
In Lecce, Casper van Uden surpassed his fellow countrymen Olav Kooij and Maikel Zijlaard, while Mads Pedersen finished fourth, further increasing his advantage in the general classification.
