2025 Giro d'Italia Stage 4 Live Coverage
Welcome to our live coverage of Stage 4 of the 2025 Giro d'Italia! Our live profile and commentary are below, followed by a preview of the technical aspects of the route.
Course Preview
After spending three days in Albania, the peloton enters the heel of Italy's boot. On this largely flat 187-kilometer stage, the riders will race down the heel, setting up for the Giro’s first bunch sprint.
This year’s sprinters have had a challenging start; the initial three days were dominated by time trials and tough terrain, leaving little opportunity for speedsters on the Albanian hills. However, that shifts on home ground as the peloton travels south from Alberobello to Lecce. The heel of the boot is sure to witness intense skirmishes between sprint trains, with sprinters eager to assert themselves after days of disappointment.
Alberobello welcomed a Giro finish for the first time in 2022, where Caleb Ewan emerged victorious. In contrast, Lecce is familiar with fast pelotons, with notable winners like Alessandro Petacchi and Mario Cipollini listed here.
It’s fair to conclude that this stage is tailored for a bunch sprint. A lone, insignificant 4th-category climb early on is unlikely to impede the ambitions of the speedsters.
