Course Preview
The Brabantse Pijl is a 162.6-kilometre race featuring 21 climbs. The finish is on a false flat drag along the Brusselsesteenweg in Overijse, Belgium. Climbing begins early on the Alsemberg, and after seven climbs in the run-up, the riders enter the local circuit, which is to be completed three times. It’s 19.8 kilometres long and features four hills: Hertstraat, Moskesstraat, Holstheide, and the S-Bocht in Overijse. Check the slideshow below for details on all climbs and the timings.
The S-Bocht is located 200 metres before the finish line. It’s a 1,300-metre drag at 4.2%, while the remainder of the route continues to rise at false flat gradients.
Marijn van den Berg, Quinten Hermans, Benoît Cosnefroy, Jefferson Cepeda, Joseph Blackmore, Dylan Teuns, and Tim Wellens were in the finale last year. Van den Berg distanced the others with 3 kilometres to go, but he encountered the man with the hammer in the final kilometre, after which Cosnefroy surged to a commanding sprint victory ahead of Teuns and Wellens.
